Pakistan’s Lahore High Court has ruled that a recent auction of DTH licences, carried out by the country’s PEMRA regulator, is not valid and must be reheld.

Certain broadcasters were barred from bidding in the auction which took place on November 23rd.

Three companies were awarded licences (Mag Entertainment, Shahzad Sky and Startimes Communications) but the Lahore Court has now ruled that at least two potential bidders (GEO and ARY Digital) must now be permitted to enter bids.

However, PEMRA is considering challenging the decision with an appeal.
