BBC’s Springwatch gets Spain commission

BBC natural history format Springwatch is set to make its international debut. Originally launched in the UK in 2005, the format which has become known for its blend of live wildlife coverage and storytelling, has now been commissioned in Spain by EITB (the Basque Public Broadcaster).
Produced by Brutal Media, part of BBC Studios, the Spanish adaptation will be titled Bizi Natura: Udaberria (meaning Living Nature: Spring in the Basque language). The series will celebrate the region’s rich biodiversity and natural heritage, bringing audiences closer to wildlife in real time.
Bizi Natura: Udaberria will consist of a total of 15 episodes. The series will launch late May with a one-hour prime-time special airing across both of EITB’s main channels. This will be followed by 13 predominantly. The season then concludes with a one-hour prime-time episode.
Filmed on location across the Basque Country, the series will showcase the region’s diverse ecosystems, combining live wildlife moments, expert insights, and engaging storytelling designed to connect audiences with nature in an authentic and compelling way.
