Frankie Goes to Bollywood returns to theatres for 2026 UK Tour

March 20, 2026

Following the record-breaking success of the Desi pantomime Surinderella, Rifco Theatre has announced the triumphant return of its glittering hit musical Frankie Goes to Bollywood, touring theatres across the UK from April to June 2026.
Fresh off Surinderella’ opening at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre where the show sold out, and brought in 60 per cent first-time theatre audiences, Rifco continues its mission to make theatre a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and celebrated and champion British South Asian voices.
Blending the joy of Bollywood with the heart of British musical theatre, Frankie Goes to Bollywood is a spectacular large-scale production, inspired by women navigating the highs and heartbreaks of the world’s biggest film industry, woven between dazzling dance choreography, epic songs, and a story that shines with humour, romance, and self-discovery.
Pravesh Kumar MBE said of Rifco’s work: “Our previous Desi pantomime Surinderella sold out Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Every night 1,200 South Asian people filled the auditorium, with more than 60 percent being new audiences. Not new to Rifco. New to theatre. In one of the toughest markets in recent memory, we brought people into a building they had never previously considered entering. Twenty-five years ago I founded Rifco after sitting in a theatre and realising something devastating. No one on that stage looked like me. Worse, no one backstage did either. If we do not tell our own stories, who will? Since then, we have made British South Asian musicals, dramas, and pantomimes as mainstream theatre. Audiences have responded with warmth, loyalty, and sold out houses. Yet much of the sector still believes that visibility is the same thing as inclusion.”
“If British theatre wants to survive, it must evolve – not through token slots or diversity seasons but through structural change, through the commission of global majority writers to tell stories actually from their communities, through putting global majority companies on main stages with the budgets and creative authority of their white peers. When the right voices are on stage and backstage, something remarkable happens: audiences follow,” Kumar added.
