Pig & Horse Productions unveils new digital-first talent show series
September 25, 2025
Monaco and Finland-based film and TV production company Pig & Horse Productions have announced its new talent show series Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey; a social-to-screen branded format that follows a European-wide search for the next K-Pop superstars, celebrating the proliferation of the popular genre around the world.
Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey is a TV format designed for both social media and linear TV, transitioning from a digital launch to content for streamers and channels. This enables a territory-agnostic approach, and the format blends social media engagement with professional training, tapping into the international popularity and music phenomenon of K-Pop.
The format begins with a Europe-wide social media talent scout, inviting Gen Z and young adult K-pop fans to take part in a talent competition. Featuring user-generated content and sponsor integration, Pig & Horse will measure audience reach and engagement metrics throughout the scouting process. This progresses to the next stage where audiences are introduced to the selected contributors. Finally, selected talent are then invited to Korea to train at a professional K-pop academy, with the series culminating with a live performance for the winners of the competition.
With real-time feedback and engagement, the series allows for flexible and scalable production aligning with the audience response. Featuring sponsorship packages and brand partnerships, the format will build a sustainable, recurring franchise with a long-term platform reaching young, engaged audiences.
Pig & Horse Productions has partnered with international distribution specialist Beatrice Rossmanith and her consultancy Mothership to lead the digital strategy. Having worked across a variety of factual, entertainment and branded formats alongside NBCU-owned AwesomenessTV, Red Bull Media House, and Magnify Media and others, Beatrice’s expertise spans distribution strategy across all key global markets. Beatrice also acts as an agent for KOCCA in the UK (Korean Creative Content Agency) helping to match British companies with Korean partners.
Pig & Horse Productions will also collaborate with strategic partner and founder of UpToLevel Media, Anssi Rimpelä on the series. Anssi has produced and directed major talent search formats in the Nordics, including Popstars, Idols, Got Talent, and The X Factor. The production company is currently in talks with select music labels to collaborate with on Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey.
Pig & Horse Productions, which launched earlier this year, continues to expand its slate of socially impactful documentaries and innovative non-scripted TV formats for global distribution. Along with Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey the unscripted slate includes the high-end doc Reflections of Gaugin (80’) which is currently in production.
Salla Kozma, Executive Producer and Founder of Pig & Horse says “Europe’s K-Pop Odyssey is a celebration of this genre, designed as a social-first format that blends real-time fan engagement with the global energy of K-Pop. With this social-to-big-screen approach, we are launching a platform for influencers and brands to engage authentically with audiences. Equipped with Beatrice’s expertise and insight of the digital distribution market, our ambition is to grow a franchise that that bridges cultures, builds communities and partnerships, and celebrates talent”.
