McClelland joins Appear as SVP & GM, UK & Ireland
July 31, 2025

Appear, the global leader in live production technology, has announced the appointment of Andy McClelland as Senior Vice President & General Manager for the UK & Ireland. McClelland joins Appear from Comcast, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in video technology across engineering, sales, and executive leadership roles in the broadcast and media industry.
McClelland will lead commercial operations in the UK & Ireland region, accelerate go-to-market strategies, and enhance customer engagement, as Appear meets the growing demand for hybrid cloud and software-defined workflows.
McClelland commented: “I’ve known and competed against Appear for years and always admired the team’s ability to deliver. When the opportunity to join came up, I was genuinely flattered. What excites me most is how Appear has brilliantly timed its R&D, offering the right solution whether customers need flexible modular hardware, a hybrid setup, or a full software/cloud architecture.”
A key focus for McClelland will be expanding adoption of the VX software platform in the UK & Ireland. VX, designed to complement Appear’s X Platform, enables media organisations to build scalable, low-latency production workflows with modular software components. He also plans to grow Appear’s customer engagement initiatives, including the continuous efforts for Appear’s Customer Councils, that give clients a voice in product development and foster knowledge-sharing around workflow innovation.
McClelland concluded: “I’m a huge believer in customer councils. They build community, surface real-world needs, and help us innovate more smartly. Appear doesn’t just say it listens – it really does.”
McClelland was Head of Sales for Comcast Technology Solutions’ Streaming, Broadcast & Advertising business across EMEA and APAC, where he led multi-regional sales programmes. His previous leadership roles at GatesAir (Managing Director, EMEA), Harmonic, and Imagine Communications saw him drive transformative growth and deepen customer partnerships across the region.
“Andy’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Appear’s UK & Ireland operations and aligns with the company’s broader mission to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions for the most demanding live production environments,” added Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, CEO, Appear. “Andy not only shares our passion for customer collaboration and technical innovation but also brings a global perspective that will further strengthen our ability to support broadcasters and operators navigating the shift to hybrid and software-defined infrastructures.”
