Dash launches scripted arm

July 15, 2025

UK indie Dash Pictures, well-known for creating a slew of successful factual programming, has launched a scripted arm, it was announced today by Daniel Sharp, Founder. The first production emanating from this new venture is psychological thriller feature film Better starring Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy, Game of Thrones), which has just completed filming in the UK.
Better stars Hopper as chronically depressed Henry Kane, who discovers he has a long-lost identical twin brother.  But Henry’s twin appears to be much better than him in every way possible causing an existential crisis of dangerous proportions. Better is directed by Sharp, produced by Anna O’Malley (Slow Horses, Silo, Queen Charlotte), Daniel Sharp, Laura Hopper and Tom Hopper and written by Omid Ghaffarian.  Daniel Sharp, Anna O’Malley, Sebastian Barker, Michael Reuter and Sam Cryer are executive producers on the film, which will be available for delivery towards the end of the year.
Sharp commented: “After a number of years of building our factual programming base and securing four Emmy nominations along the way, Better marks our first move into scripted. From the outset, this was a story we felt had psychological depth and real cinematic potential, and producing it alongside Anna, Laura, and Tom has been a genuinely collaborative and rewarding experience. Tom’s performance as both twins is extraordinary, full of detail, nuance, and emotional tension. With principal photography wrapped, we’re well into post-production and already in conversations with a number of distribution partners.”
O’Malley added: “Better asks the question we all ask ourselves; am I enough? Is there a better version of myself in here? Unfortunately for Henry Kane, the better version of himself is out there. The insidious nature of jealousy and self-loathing take centre stage in this brother on brother thriller. Working alongside producing partners Tom Hopper and Laura Hopper, we are delighted to take audiences on this visceral rollercoaster brought to us by the thoughtful and provocative directing of Daniel Sharp.”
