Channel 4 to host five party political debate

Channel 4 News will host a national television debate featuring the five main political parties ahead of the upcoming local elections. The hour-long debate will take place in Hull on 29 April 29th, ahead of polling day on May 1st.
Presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy will host the televised debate live on Channel 4 News, with a politically-balanced studio audience in attendance. The format will feature a panel of representatives from the main parties, who will discuss set topics affecting local communities and take questions from the audience. It will be supported by special coverage from Channel 4 News’ correspondents throughout the lead-up to the elections.
Channel 4 News Editor, Esme Wren, commented: “Sparking debate is central to our remit and we look forward to bringing our popular political formats to Hull. These polls could have a big impact on the political picture in the country and we’ll unpack the issues with our signature special programming for UK-wide audiences.”
Election 2025: The Debate will be broadcast on Channel 4 News at 7pm and available online.
