The Media Coding Industry Forum (MC-IF) has announced the results of its recent board elections, welcoming a group of industry leaders for the 2025-26 term. The newly elected board members represent some of the world’s most influential technology companies driving innovation in media coding:
● Aytac Biber (Qualcomm)

● Per Fröjdh (Ericsson)
● Cedric Joguet-Reccordon (Dolby)
● Justin Ridge (Nokia) – President of MC-IF
● Ralf Schaefer (InterDigital)
● Stephan Wenger (Tencent)
Elected by and from among MC-IF’s membership, these directors will serve two-year terms, guiding the organisation’s mission to promote standardised MPEG technologies, with a strong focus on the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) codec. By raising awareness of VVC’s benefits, providing practical implementation guidance, and fostering collaboration across the multimedia technology ecosystem, MC-IF plays a critical role in driving the adoption of next-generation video standards.
“We are proud to have such an accomplished group of industry experts on our board,” said Justin Ridge, President of MC-IF. “Their leadership and technical expertise will be invaluable as we continue our efforts to promote and accelerate the adoption of VVC, ensuring that consumers and businesses benefit from its superior efficiency and quality.”
MC-IF operates with an open membership structure, welcoming new participants to join in shaping the future of media coding technologies.
“The adoption of advanced video technologies like VVC is crucial for delivering high-quality media experiences while optimising bandwidth efficiency,” added Ridge. “MC-IF is committed to fostering industry collaboration and providing the necessary guidance to support the successful deployment of these innovations.”
