Manchester Wonder Women Live! announces new speakers

Manchester Wonder Women Live! has confirmed additional line-up of speakers, with BBC Assistant Commissioner, Creative Diversity Partner Content & Nations Disability Lead Nichola Garde and Coronation Street star Channique Sterling-Brown joining Nicola Shindler from Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios) for an evening of inspirational talks, thought-provoking discussion and invaluable networking opportunities.

Taking place at The Coronation Street Experience, on March 6th – timed to coincide with International Women’s Day – Wonder Women Live! is hosted by Wonder Women CIC, the inspiring women’s network dedicated to elevating diverse women into senior leadership roles within television and the creative industries. The event is now in its eighth year and is being held in the North for the first time. The evening event is compèred by television presenter and Wonder Women founder Ria Hebden and is supported by partners at the BFI and ITV.

Featuring a remarkable line-up of trailblazing senior female leaders, Wonder Women Live! brings together diverse women from the television and creative industries. The event has been designed to serve as a powerful platform to hear from inspirational industry leaders while fostering a supportive and dynamic networking environment. It offers a unique opportunity for participants to share their experiences, discuss key issues affecting women’s advancement in the workplace, and connect with one another in a safe, empowering space. Through candid conversations and structured networking, attendees gain valuable insights and build lasting relationships, fostering collaboration and boosting social mobility and employability within the sector. With an aim to further support opportunities in the North, Wonder Women has recruited locally for the event across its production, including the event manager, location manager, event runners, photographer and videographer.

The full line-up for the Manchester Wonder Women Live! edition is:

  • Nichola Garde – BBC Assistant Commissioner, Creative Diversity Partner Content & Nations Disability Lead
  • Nicola Shindler – BAFTA-winning Executive Producer and Chief Executive of Quay Street Productions (Fool Me Once, Nolly, Happy Valley)

Our immersive events provide a unique and empowering space where women can honour their achievements, share their journeys, reflect on lessons learned from overcoming challenges, and foster meaningful connections that drive lasting change.”

She added: “Creating work opportunities for local talent to shine is a key priority for us, as well as producing an inspiring networking event that champions northern women and brings people together for International Women’s Day. It’s so important that 80% of our Wonder Women team managing this event are based in Manchester. Hosting Wonder Women Live in the north marks a significant milestone, reinforcing our deep commitment to uplifting and supporting talent in the region while championing intersectionality, resilience, and excellence in TV.”

Founded in 2017 by television presenter Ria Hebden, Wonder Women was created to address the industry’s need for a diverse and supportive community for women from underrepresented and marginalised groups. The initiative was designed to share the collective wisdom of experienced women in television and the creative industries while empowering the next generation of diverse, female leaders. Wonder Women’s vision is to inspire, connect, and uplift women from all backgrounds and identities, through an intersectional approach that fosters both professional and personal growth. This mission is realised through a variety of impactful activities, including the annual Wonder Women Live! and Wonder Women Conference events, the inspiring Wonder Women TV podcast, the monthly Wonder Women Power Hour online sessions, a nationwide year-long Wonder Women Mentoring Programme, and the newly launched Wonder Women Membership.
