October 29, 2024
Following a tender process BBC Studios has retained the contract to produce Blue Peter. The tender was launched in February and, from a field of eligible tenderers, BBC Studios’ bid scored highest against the published criteria.
The iconic Children’s series is presented by Abby Cook, Joel Mawhinney and Shini Muthukrishan. The contract is for two years with delivery starting in spring 2025. The production will stay at its current base in Media City, Salford.
Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Commissioning 7+, BBC Children’s and Education, commented: “Blue Peter is a much-loved icon of children’s TV and is still a family favourite 66 years since it first began. The show continues to inspire viewers to send in letters and artwork in the hope of being awarded a coveted badge Blue Peter badge, and this retained contract ensures that the beloved show continues to educate, inform and entertain young viewers.”
“This was a highly competitive bidding process and we would like to commend all the shortlisted producers for the high quality and comprehensive bids they put forward,” added Muller.
