Eaglet Films has announced that PBS Distribution has acquired the North American distribution rights to Eaglet Films’ new kids 2D/CG-animated comedy series, Piripenguins about a lively group of penguin friends who have fun living together on an iceberg.
Piripenguins, a 52 x 11’ series, is produced by Eaglet Films together with Red Monk Studio (Italy) and in partnership with Wild Child Animation (Scotland), and has been commissioned by BBC and RAI, alongside support from the UK Global Screen Fund – financed by the UK Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport and administered by the BFI.
Piripenguins is aimed at 5-8 year olds and centres on five lively penguins, each with distinctive personalities and voiced by a diverse cast. Life on the iceberg throws up lots of challenges and funny situations for Pancake, Nugget, Brinicle, Looph and Flutter who learn about life, friendships and have lots of fun along the way.
PBS Distribution President, Andrea Downing, commented: The pitch for this delightful children’s series immediately engaged us with its combination of imaginative storytelling and unique mix of animation techniques, bringing together all the elements for entertaining family viewing. We are thrilled to be the North American distribution partner on this new series with the extraordinary team at Eaglet Films and commissioners BBC and RAI.”
Eaglet Films’ Executive Producer, Tess Cuming, added: ‘As a major global player, we couldn’t be more delighted that PBS Distribution is boarding the Piripenguins’ fun-filled iceberg, to distribute our exciting new kids brand in North America. The fun-loving Piripenguins may have started their journey in the form of a tiny doodle on a post it note by creator Massimo Fenati, now they truly have the world at their flippers and it will be exciting to see where this journey takes them.”
