Alien: Romulus makes strong UK Box Office debut

20th Century Studios’ Alien: Romulus landed the #1 spot in the UK & Ireland box office in its opening weekend, following its August 16th premiere.
To date this year, The Walt Disney Studios has released the #1 title of May (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), June (Inside Out 2), July (Deadpool & Wolverine) and now August (Alien: Romulus) – dominating the spring/summer Box Office. Globally, Alien: Romulus is the second highest opening ever in the 45-year-old franchise, and the highest opening ever for Fede Alvarez and Cailee Spaeny.
The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, Aileen Wu.
Fede Alvarez directed from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. The movie is produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the original Alien in 1979, and produced and directed the series’ entries Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.
