Airbus is fitting 4K TV displays into all seat backs on its new A321neo aircraft being supplied to United Airlines. Panasonic Avionics is supplying the necessary equipment.
United has 130 of these latest Airbus narrow body aircraft on order and the first aircraft was delivered to United on November 30th. The inaugural flight took place from Houston (IAH) to Chicago (ORD).
Passengers can expect personal televisions, power ports, bluetooth audio and high speed Wi-Fi for In-Flight Entertainment for all passengers on the plane. The entertainment comes from Panasonic’s NEXT inflight entertainment system, offering 4K screens that are up to 13″.
After the inaugural flight, passengers can expect United to primarily fly its A321neos out of Chicago (ORD), with initial destinations including Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), and Phoenix (PHX).
The new United fleet offers 200 seats with 20 in 1st Class, 57 in ‘extra legroom’ economy and 123 in economy. Aircraft will be delivered from now through 2030.
