Mediaset renews TV rights for Coppa Italia
October 31, 2023
From Branislav Pekic in Rome

Italian broadcaster Mediaset has renewed its rights to broadcast the Coppa Italia and Super Cup domestically for the next three seasons, starting from 2023-24. The deal is worth approximately €56 million per season, for a total of €168 million.
Mediaset’s offer beat off a lower offer from Rai, the Italian public broadcaster.
This is a significant victory for Mediaset, as it means that the company will continue to be a major player in Italian football broadcasting, as it also owns the domestic TV rights for the UEFA Champions League. This is also a blow to Rai, which has lost out on the rights to two of the most popular domestic football competitions.
The increase in the value of the rights is due in part to the new format of the Super Cup, which will now be a four-team tournament.
The Super Cup will be played in Saudi Arabia in January which will contribute an additional €23 million to the value of the rights.
This brings the total value of the TV rights for Italy’s top football to close to €1 billion for the Lega Serie A, after DAZN and Sky Italia won the rights to broadcast Serie A matches last week.
