Intelsat, Televisa renew LatAm TV deal
October 11, 2022
Intelsat, the satellite and terrestrial network, has signed a multi-year and multi-transponder deal with Televisa to continue TV programming distribution to viewers in Latin America.
Televisa will be utilising transponders across three satellites, Intelsat 34 (IS-34), Galaxy 16 (G-16), and Galaxy 19 (G-19), to provide TV programming to regional viewers.
“This renewal builds on the longstanding relationship between Intelsat and Televisa and demonstrates the trust they have in us and the Intelsat fleet to deliver their TV programming in North America and Latin America,” said Richard Kohlweg, managing sales director, Intelsat LatAm Media Services.
Intelsat’s media satellites in Latin America provide content providers with extensive reach, accessing over 44 million cable subscribers and 2,000 cable systems. Additionally, the company’s satellites IS-34, G-16 and G-19 host a variety of popular pay-TV programming ranging from entertainment to sports and music.
“Televisa needed a reliable and comprehensive distribution solution to continue to provide high-quality programming to our affiliates and consumers in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. In Intelsat, we found the answer to our technical needs,” added Williams Aguirre, general director of Satellite Operations, Grupo Televisa.
