Al Hayba licensed for international adaptation
November 2, 2021
In a trend-setting deal from the Middle East, the format of Al Hayba, one of the region’s most successful 5-season Sociocultural Drama series, was acquired by one of Turkey’s leading production houses Ay Yapim.
In the Arab World, Ay Yapim is recognized for their hit series Forbidden Love (Al Ishk Al Memnu) which is considered the most watched and longest trending Turkish series in the region since it was first introduced on regional television channel MBC in 2010.
The production of the Turkish Adaptation of the Lebanese format is set to start early next year.
Sadek Sabbah, Chairman of Cedars Art Production (Sabbah Brothers) commented: “I have always believed that we have amazing relatable stories in our part of the world, which can and will travel around the globe. We are proud to be the first in the world to offer a regional Arabic format for international licensing, however we are now witnessing an overall rise and improvement in the quality of content being created in our region, so I believe that this is the first of many more to come.”
It is not the first time that Cedars Art Production sets the trend within the MENA region’s Content Distribution industry. In 2017, CAP was the first production house to license an Arabic language production to Netflix, the first to distribute Arabic content on a wide scale internationally, and the first to develop a Futuristic -Sci-Fi – survival genre (Hellsgate) in Arabic language as an OTT original.
