Turksat officials, speaking at the Washington Satellite 2019 show, say that their latest satellite, Turksat 5A will be orbited next year, and no later than Q2 although a few months later than originally expected.
The satellite is under construction by Airbus Defense & Space, and will be launched by SpaceX.
Türksat General Manager Cenk Şen stated that construction works of Türksat 5A, Türksat 5B and Turkey’s first domestic satellite Türksat 6A, were well underway. Following Türksat 5A, Türksat 5B, a broadband satellite, is planned for in-orbit delivery in 2021. Türksat 5B will operate from 42 degrees East.
Türksat 5A is a DTH and broadcasting satellite which will operate in Ku-band from 31 degrees East and reaching Turkey, the MENA region and large regions of Africa. It will provide television services and improve broadband data services.
