Sony eyes Zee stake
January 25, 2019
Sony is in talks to buy a stake in Zee Entertainment, including potentially a controlling stake, according to India’s CNBC-TV18.
The Japanese conglomerate already has a strong broadcast presence in India and has been looking to expand in the country.
The move comes after Sony gave up on a bid for 21st Century Fox.
Zee has a TV presence across 117 countries. Comcast, Tencent and Amazon are also also touted as being interested in acquiring a stake.
