Comcast results show need for Sky deal
October 26, 2018
Comcast announced its results to September 30th and they showed why it saw it as vital to secure its $40 billion Sky deal. The world’s biggest cableco lost another 106,000 video customers in the three months ending September.
So far in 2018, Comcast has shed 342,000 cable TV subscribers, up from 118,000 in the same period last year. This comes on the heels of rival AT&T revealing 300,000 television customers had cancelled TV subscriptions.
Comcast said will retain Jeremy Darroch as CEO at Sky. Comcast’s chief Brian Roberts justified the high price of the deal declaring they will “reshape the global media landscape”.
