Spain will compensate DTT migration
July 2, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
The DTT migration to release the 700 MHz band for 5G services in Spain will be completed by March 2020, some 3 months before the EU deadline of June 30th.
The Spanish government has approved a DTT plan to reorder the frequencies by that time which includes compensations and financial aids to broadcasters and users.
By year end the administration will publish a more detailed DTT plan with the map of the frequencies and the investment to compensate the migration expenses which could include a direct financial aid to acquire the necessary equipment.
The government has sought to keep the present DTT capacity as requested by the broadcasters and guarantee the future viability of the current 8 DTT channels.
