Google planning games streaming platform
June 29, 2018
Google is reportedly looking to enter the video games business, with plans for a streaming platform to rival Xbox and PlayStation.
The reports, which originated from gaming new site Kotaku, site five different sources, all claiming that Google are planning ‘some sort of streaming platform’ and that they’re already in the midst of recruiting and perhaps even acquiring major games developers.
Google is said to have courted the idea of its games platform – codenamed Yeti – to a number of video games developers at this month’s E3 show, as well as the GDC Conference back in March.
The platform could be integrated into YouTube so that users can play games on any hardware they desire, regardless of its power.
