Spain: Mediaset, Warner Bros in Netflix production deal
May 30, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Mediaset Spain has teamed up with Warner Bros and Netflix to produce its first TV series with the streaming service to be broadcast on Tele 5 first and on Netflix Internationally in a later phase.
The TV Series, Brigada Costa del Sol, will be filmed in Torremolinos, south of Spain, this summer and is based on the history of one of Spain’s first anti-narcotics squads in the so called Costa del Sol.
This is the first production deal between Mediaset and Netflix, but won’t be the last. The streaming service is becoming increasingly involved in the production of Spanish content (five for the time being) and has also acquired the right to La Casa de Papel, produced by Atresmedia.
