A media investment consortium, which already owns AB Groupe and Apocalypse documentary producer CC&C, is set to extend its TV drama production activities with the acquisition of three more French companies.
The Mediawan group formed by producer Pierre-Antoine Catton, Iliad Telecom founder Xavier Niel and Lazard France head Matthieu Pigasse, intends to acquire 80 per cent of EuropaCorp French TV activity, under a new company named Storia Télévisions and headed by Thomas Anargyros.
Mediawan has also entered into exclusive talks for a majority stake in Makever and Mon Voisin Production, the company behind the France Télévisions series on the film industry ‘Dix pour cent.’ These targeted activities represented a global turnover of €50 million in 2017.
When closed, the three operations will make Mediawan the leading TV drama producer in France ahead of Lagardère Studios.
Last December, the consortium made a breakthrough in the animated sector with the on-going project to take a majority stake into European Studio On Kids & Family.
