At 11.6 million, Strictly Come Dancing – The Final is the biggest and top TV overnight broadcast in 2017 (across all channels).
The consolidated average audience for the series so far is 11.1 million and it’s on track to become the biggest and most popular year for Strictly to date. At 55.9 per cent, it’s the biggest overnight audience share for a finale in the show’s history and the highest share for an episode of Strictly this year.
Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content, says: “This year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing has surpassed all expectations and is on track to become the biggest in the show’s history, with the final reaching the top spot as the highest rating overnight of 2017. It’s brought joy to millions of all ages and I couldn’t be more proud of this distinctive show. I would like to congratulate this year’s champions Joe and Katya, and thank the cast of 2017 and the entire Strictly family both on-and-off screen for making this such a memorable and record-breaking series.”
