Lagardère’s kids’ DTT channel Gulli has launched a pan-Arabic version, branded Gulli Bil Arabi, in 18 territories across the Middle East. The channel is carried on pan-Arabic operator My-HD, and has been specifically tailored to the lives of kids in Algeria, Bahrein, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Somalia.
The programming line-up contains international shows from Gulli in France such as My Little Pony and Transformers, as well as French-produced animated series such as Oggy and the Cockroaches, Totally Spies along with specific acquisitions such as Slugterra from DHX and Bali from Planet Nemo.
This launch extends Lagardère Active’s expansion strategy as the group’s channels are now in 100 countries with Mezzo reaching 60, Gulli Girl and TiJi in Russia and Eastern Europe and Gulli Africa in 22 French-speaking countries. Sixteen of the group’s channels are localised versions.
“The international expansion is one of our growth relay and opens long-term perspectives,” commented Richard Lenormand, managing director of the TV and radio station.
