Apple TV’s first original content goes live
June 7, 2017
Apple’s first foray into original content, Planet of the Apps, has launched, with the first episode of ten now available to stream for free via Apple Music and iTunes. Subsequent episodes will be released each Tuesday and available only to the streaming service’s subscribers.
The series is similar to Dragon’s Den and sees independent developers from around the world pitch their ideas for apps to a panel of high-profile “mentors” including Jessica Alba, Will.i.am, Gwyneth Paltrow and Gary Vaynerchuck, who choose whether or not they wish to back the development.
Apple’s second show, an adaptation of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment featuring singing celebrities, is set to debut later this year.
