Zive rebranded SFR Play
September 8, 2016
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
SFR Media’s SVOD platform Zive will be rebranded SFR Play before the end of the year, says its managing director Alain Weil. SFR Play is currently the name of the bouquet that already runs movie, discovery, TV series and youth channels as well as Zive.
Like Zive, SFR Play will still be integrated to SFR Power + and Premium bouquet subscriptions but SFR plans to sell the SVOD service in stand alone on OTT services.
The platform’s acquisition budget is reported to be €30 million a year, and SFR Media adds this could triple within two years. The future SFR Play will be the privileged platform to run the films and TV series produced by newly created Altice Studios.
SFR Media also plans to expand into sports TV rights acquisition and launch new documentary channels, in Portugal it said.
