Spain: Vodafone to launch symmetric 1 Gbps

Spanish quad-play operator Vodafone plans to launch a symmetric (download and upload) 1 Gbps offer in 2107 following the completion of the company’s upgrade of its HFC cable network to DOCSIS 3.1 technology.
Antonio Coimbra, CEO of Vodafone, said that the company’s main goal is to speed up the deployment of its high speed fibre and cable to cover up to 10 million Spanish households by March 2017.
Vodafone Spain currently has over 6 million 4G customers with a LTE network covering over 95 per cent of the country, with 350 Mbps and 100 Mbps download and upload speeds, respectively, in the the 32 largest cities at the beginning of 2017.
