EchoStar-18 launch cancelled
June 8, 2016
By Chris Forrester
A problem with a fluid connector on the Ariane 5 rocket has meant that the planned June 8th launch of EchoStar-18 has been scrubbed.
The part, which connects between the cryogenic upper stage and the rocket’s launch table, will be swapped out and then tested. This will take some days.
Arianespace say the two satellites on board the rocket (including the world’s first satellite launched for wholly banking use) are safe and in stand-by mode ready for the countdown to recommence once testing is finalised.
