More orders for 4DX movie theatres

A South Korean cinema chain has sold another 4DX-branded theatre. Already available in 37 countries and 233 screens, the 4DX concept goes well beyond vibrating seats.
CJ 4Dplex is the company behind the concept, which as well as specially designed ‘motion chairs’ also throws in what it describes as “environmental” effects such as wind, mist, snow and fragrance, all tied in to the demands of the on-screen action. The technology can also replicate soap bubbles.
The new concept is going into a screen in Toronto, and cinema operator Cineplex says it could be buying more if the concept is successful. Avengers: Age of Ultron and Jurassic World have been experienced by cinemagoers, and 4DX screens are now available in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
New 4DX installations are also confirmed for South Africa and Portugal.
