Eurosport has reinforced its commitment to Olympic sports by extending its multiplatform rights for elite-level championships organised by European Athletics.
The European-wide agreement, acquired from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), covers a series of top athletics events over the next four years. Kicking off with the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam from July 6th, the agreement also includes the 2017 and 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships, as well as the 2017, 2018 and 2019 European Athletics Team Championships.
“Eurosport has firmly established itself as the destination of choice for fans of Olympic sports on a year-round basis,” Eurosport Chief Executive Officer Peter Hutton said. “This deal demonstrates our commitment to athletics and the Olympic movement as we look forward to beginning our coverage of the Olympic Games across Europe in two years’ time.”
