Star Wars lands on piracy websites
December 22, 2015
Disney has felt a great financial disturbance in the Force, as thousands of people downloaded the latest Star Wars film for free instead of paying to see it at the cinema.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in cinemas worldwide last week and a copy of it has now somewhat inevitably landed on the major piracy sites. The quality of the copy is reportedly mediocre at best having been shot on a handicam. Desite the piracy leak, the illegal downloads have done little to dent the profits of the latest instalment of the sci-fa saga. The movie has already taken well over $500 million at the box office and is set to smash records set by Avatar and Titanic.
Quentin Tarantino hasn’t been has lucky with regards to piracy leaks. His latest movie The Hateful Eight, due out in the UK on January 8th, has already seen a HD screener copy land online.
