December 18, 2015
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
Soon to launch French OTT platform Molotov.tv has signed a distribution deal with Samsung and LG brands to have its app embedded on their connected TVs and portable devices
Molotov.tv ,which was founded by former Canal+ CEO Pierre Lescure, Jean-David Blanc from AlloCiné, Jean-Marc Denoual from TF1 and Kevin Kuupers from AlloCiné and Gamekult, will launch early next year. It will be accessible first to pre-registered members. The founders are still looking to raise €100 million to ensure the development of the platform in France, and maybe internationally.
Content from around 80 FTA channels will be available at launch, as well as their catch-up services. Molotov.tv will draw revenues from the distribution of pay-TV channels and services like OCS and beIN Sports. Talks are still ongoing with Canal+ Group.
