Telecom Italia deploys Qwilt
November 13, 2015
Qwilt, a provider of online video delivery and open video caching solutions, has announced that Telecom Italia has deployed Qwilt’s open caching solution to boost network capacity and improve quality of OTT streaming video for its more than 30 million customers. Telecom Italia implemented Qwilt’s solution to provide enhanced quality of experience (QoE) for its subscribers using online video and live streaming services from OTT content providers in Italy.
“Today’s perfect storm of online video traffic has created a strategic problem for network operators who must find new ways to cost effectively and rapidly scale their networks to meet demand without sacrificing quality of experience,” said Alon Maor, CEO and co-founder of Qwilt. “Our open caching technology offers network operators a universal and scalable solution for optimising both live and on-demand streaming video by caching content at the network edge, close to consumers. The outcome is improved QoE for consumers, along with significant CAPEX and OPEX savings and comprehensive media analytics for the network operator. We are pleased Telecom Italia has embraced the full benefits of our open cache solution with their distributed edge deployment.”
