LaLiga teams up with Grabyo
November 5, 2015
LaLiga and social video platform Grabyo have teamed up to give fans access to the football league’s biggest teams and stars. The partnership aims to help LaLiga connect with the next generation of football fans and activate audiences both in traditional markets such as Europe and South America, as well as new regions such as China and the US.
As global smartphone penetration continues to grow, popular social apps such as Facebook are becoming key platforms for video discovery, consumption and sharing. The use of Grabyo’s technology will allow the league, and a number of its leading clubs, to collaborate on the production and distribution of ‘real-time’ video content, such as instant replays and behind-the-scenes footage, to millions of football fans around the world.
“This strategic deal with Grabyo will dramatically enhance the experience we offer fans on digital platforms and use the clubs and players as distribution channels,” comments Ignacio Martinez Trujillo, Managing Director, Innovation and Global Development at LaLiga. “Ninety minutes of football just isn’t enough for fans anymore. Yes they want real-time highlights but they also want interviews, special features and a whole range of footage around match day.”
