The Season 6 premiere episode of The Walking Dead was the biggest audience the Fox channel in the UK has ever attracted. The viewer number of 877,000 was particularly impressive as it was up against England’s European Championship football qualifying match against Lithuania on terrestrial broadcaster ITV.

Fox said it is expecting a consolidated audience, including DVR recordings and repeats, to be “well in excess of two million”.
