October 2, 2015
Google has named a wide range of new device partners to provide Android TV-based devices and services.
Google says Hisense, TCL and a number of other smart TV manufacturers will produce Android TV devices, along with set-top makers Pace, Sagemcom and Technicolor. And Google has also confirmed that operators KDDI of Japan and Telecom Italia are using Android to power their pay-TV services.
Telecom Italia offers its own TIM Vision service, providing catch-up and on-demand services on multiple devices for €5 a month, and TIM Sky, its partnership with Sky combining pay-TV and broadband for €39 a month.
Google has also announced that Disney Movies Anywhere has joined Android TV, along with Showtime, CBS All Access and HBO Now in the US.
