NASA: 4K from space

American space agency NASA is currently making available short ‘taster’ clips in 4K/Ultr- HD on YouTube on scenes shot in and outside of the International Space Station.
The footage has been uploaded at 60 frames/second, making the images super smooth. The shots are all the more impressive when one considers the challenges NASA has had to go through to get the footage back to Earth.
“The view of life in space is getting a major boost with the introduction of 4K UHD video,” NASA said on its ReelNASA channel. “This important new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution – high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place”.
For consumers the only worry is whether their computers can handle 60 fps.
