France: CSA calls for HD DTT bids
May 28, 2015
By Colin Mann
France’s TV regulator the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has issued a request for bids to operate an HD service over the country’s DTT platform.
The request is part of the evolution of DTT in France, in line with the Government’s policy of transferring the 700 MHz band for telecoms services in April 2016 and the parallel introduction of the MPEG-4 compression standard for DTT broadcasting.
The CSA will pay particular attention to the improvement of services to viewers and resultant changes the switchover will entail.
This call for bids will allow existing HD channels to expand their services or for new services to be introduced.
Applications must be submitted to the CSA before 17.00 on June 29, 2015.
