The recovery of the TV advertising market is driving the two private largest TV groups, Mediaset and Atresmedia, to breaking profit records.
Atresmedia, operator of Antena 3 and La Sexta, among other channels, managed to multiply seven-fold its year-on-year profits with a net benefit of €21.09 million in the first quarter of 2015 against €3.29 million the same period last year.
Mediaset tripled its profit in the first quarter up to €36.38 million against €12.76 million the same period last year with advertising revenues increasing by 11.3 per cent to €216.54 million.
Combined, Atresmedia and Mediaset control 58 per cent of the audience (Atresmedia, 26.6 per cent and Mediaset 31.4 per cent) and 85.6 per cent of the advertising market (Atresmedia 42.6 per cent and Mediaset 43 per cent).
