Vodafone Spain is reportedly set to dismiss 1,000 workers over the coming months as a result of its acquisition of Spanish cable provider Ono earlier this year.
Combined the two companies currently have around 6,000 workers, with Vodafone accounting for 3,500 employees and Ono the remaining 2,500.
The aim is to implement this measure by the end of the first quarter of 2015. Vodafone completed its acquisition of Ono on July 23rd in an operation valued at €7.2 billion.
The Ono acquisition has allowed Vodafone to have access to a complete fibre network with 7.2 million homes passed. With the operation, Vodafone is now breaking into the Spanish TV market with more than 700,000 subscribers.
