The French 4EVER Consortium, backed by the likes of France Televisions and Orange Labs, is shooting 8K/UHD-2 at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, currently taking place.
The experimental filming started September 2nd and the event is being captured in extremely high frame rates of up to 200 fps, as well as testing high dynamic range options and 4K conversions.
The footage will be shown at next week’s IBC, and the 4EVER Consortium will also be showcasing their work at MIPCOM in Cannes next month.
Gwenael Le Lay from the Orange Labs R&D division, says: “Our goal is to generate new video sequences, representative of TV content, that will allow 4EVER partners to work on visual assessments of perceived quality and user experience improvement with these new Ultra-HD technologies.”
