June 24, 2014
EBU, the provider of the live sports delivery platform to broadcasters worldwide, is carrying over its satellite capacities worldwide of all World Cup matches in HD format and also all of the 4K television production of the 2014 tournament in Brazil. The 4K live coverage includes the matches on June 28th (Round of 16), July 4th (Quarter-Final) and July 13th (Final).
RRsat, a provider of digital content management and global content distribution services to the broadcasting industry, is providing EBU with the uplink facilities needed to carry the 4K feeds of the World Cup over to the Asian footprint of EBU’s Eurovision network. This adds to the network services for the regular HD distribution over the Asian footprint of the Eurovision network, which RRsat has been supplying EBU for long time.
Avi Cohen, RRsat CEO commented: “Utilizing RRsat’s service infrastructure to be able to showcase the World Cup in 4K for the first time emphasizes RRsat’s distribution capabilities on a large scale to a massive worldwide audience. RRsat continues to be an innovative service provider in supporting our customers.”
