SFR, Numericable merger back on?
February 24, 2014
Vivendi has confirmed it has been approached by private equity group Altice over a possible alliance between its SFR telecoms operator and Altice’s Numericable cable unit. In a statement, the French media and telecoms giant confirmed press reports signaling a possible tie-up but said it had not received a formal offer.
French newspaper Les Echos reported that the two groups were discussing a possible merger between Vivendi’s SFR and Altice’s Numericable in a deal that would value SFR at more than €15 billion
.
The deal would see the French media group retain a 32 per cent share of the merged company, and represents an effort by Numericable’s private equity owners to revive merger talks after failing to reach an earlier deal.
