February 12, 2014
Grabyo, the real-time TV clip sharing platform has revealed that Gareth Capon has left his role as Product Development Director at BSkyB, – where he led all Social TV initiatives including its investment in zeebox – to join the London-based startup as CEO.
“The broadcast industry is now seeing a new content format open up around real time video,” commented Capon, CEO at Grabyo. “It is highly significant as its solves broadcasters’ strategic challenge of owning and monetising the social conversation around TV.”
Grabyo has made significant progress since launching last summer. It has worked with major broadcasters such as Channel 5 and Setanta Sports on some of the most popular TV formats. Grabyo has also now upgraded its platform to incorporate a range of features to optimise broadcasters’ content rights across Twitter and Facebook, in addition to their own web and mobile properties.
Capon previously led strategy and product development for Sky’s market-leading mobile applications portfolio; including award-winning product innovation such as the tablet and mobile companion experiences for Sky Sports.
