Brazil’s National Telecoms Agency (ANATEL) says that at the end of November the country had a total of 17.92 million pay-TV subscribers. This represents growth of 8.61 per cent this year, with subscribers up from 16.5 million in January 2013.
The improved take up means that Brazil now has a pay-TV penetration rate of some 28.24 per cent, with DTH leading the pack with 11.06 million subs (61.72 per cent of the total), while cable had 6.84 million (38.15 per cent). MMDS distribution has almost died out at just 0.13 per cent of connections.
