Portuguese pay-TV channel producer Sport TV is set to launch a “low cost” channel in August, according to local sports daily “A Bola”.
Sport TV Live will have a monthly subscription of between €10 and €15 and will air one live match of the Portuguese Football League per week, plus games from the Spanish, Italian, German and French leagues.
In a related development, Portuguese football club channel Benfica TV will switch from free-to-air to pay-TV mode on July 1st. The monthly subscription will cost around €10 per month.
The move comes after Benfica TV purchased the TV rights for the English League for the next two years. Benfica TV is likely to also air matches from the Brazilian, Greek and American football leagues.
