Sony Professional is transporting one of its London mobile OB Ultra-HDTV units to Brazil for the upcoming Confederations Cup football tournament.
Sony Brazil’s VP of professional video says that no live transmissions will be made but material will be recorded for test use by FIFA and enthusiastic 4K supporter TV Globo.
The planned 4K coverage will include two matches from the first rounds as well as a semi-final. FIFA will use 35 cameras at each venue of which five will be 4K.
Most industry observers expect live 4K coverage of the World Cup tournament in Brazil next year.
