Motive Television US patent application titled “Place-shifting apparatus and system” has been approved and will be granted. This patent application was originally filed in 2006 by NXVision Ltd and was acquired by Motive Television in 2010 along with the rest of the assets of NXVision.
The patent discloses an embedded place-shifting system which allows transfer of content from a set-top box or similar device to portable devices such as smartphones / tablets. The patent further discloses the system as allowing the content owner visibility and control of the place-shifting system, permitting new business models and potential new revenues.
The NXVision technology was integrated with the BesTV technology during 2011 and is a valuable part of Motive’s Television’s Anytime Anywhere and Video2Go solution for broadcasters.
Leonard M Fertig, CEO of Motive commented, “This patent award in the United States recognizes the value of this invention and confirms the unique advantages of this technology to the industry. It represents another step forward for Motive.”
