Travel Channel arrives on Freesat
April 2, 2013
Scripps Networks Interactive’s Travel Channel has launched on UK free-to-air digital satellite service Freesat.
Travel Channel is currently available on the Sky platform (channels 251/252) to more than 10.3 million subscribers. The move expands its reach, with Freesat recently announcing its three millionth sale. Travel Channel will be available to watch on Freesat’s Channel 405.
“We are very pleased to further expand the distribution of Travel Channel in the UK,” said Jon Sichel, Managing Director of Scripps EMEA. “This announcement is a testament to Travel Channel’s popularity among viewers, and we look forward to working with Freesat to enable even more UK households to enjoy the quality programming available on Travel Channel.”
Paul Gilshan, Director of Marketing, Freesat said: “We’re delighted Travel Channel is joining Freesat. It is a hugely popular service with a strong following that strengthens and complements Freesat’s existing line-up. With Travel Channel joining today, the breadth of choice for our viewers, for free, has never been better.”
This expansion follows a recent comprehensive Travel Channel brand refresh across all international territories. In addition to the new look and feel, a newly enhanced schedule draws from Scripps’ extensive lifestyle content library as well as several new series.
